  1. FAITH IN ACTION
TEXT: - ‘By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And went out, not knowing where he was going’ - Heb. 11:8.
*Faith had been scripturally described as the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith could mean having a complete confidence in a person or a strong belief in a superenatural power that controls human destiny - Heb. 11:1.
*Chapter 11 of the Epistle to the Hebrews is often called the “Hall of Faith” because it enshrines men and women that put their faith into action in their lifetimes and triumphed. The passage summarizes the list of heroes with words about their visions, confidence, afflictions and resolves - Heb. 11:13.
*The above text referred to the faith of Abraham who went out by faith, not knowing where he was going but put his faith in the One that has called him. It must be noted here that faith and obedience cannot be separated from one another. The dual must go together for better and godly results - Gen. 12:1-9; Heb. 11:8; 3:18-19; Joh. 3:36.
*Similarly, the faith being exercised by Daniel and his Hebrew colleagues cannot be over emphasised as the King in their days testified to their living faith in a living and powerful God, who is able to deliver His people - Dan. 3:26-30; 6:18-23.
*Brethren, the Lord expects that we should put our faith into a coreesponding action at every situation of life’s endeavours. However, our faith must be rooted in the word of
God and we must be obedient to His command without wavering or doubting the
power of God - Heb. 11:6,7,8-11; Matt. 21:21-22.
*In his general Epistle, Apostle James laid claim to the fact that faith without work is dead. This implies that our faith in Christ Jesus must always be put into demonstration and not only by the word of the mouth - Jas. 2:14-16.
*Beloved in Christ, there is need for every believer to be aware of the fact that Christan journey is a journey of faith in the Lord which must be exercised through Jesus Christ. Therefore, let us learn to continue in this race by putting our faith into action following the examples of the heroes of faith mentioned in the scriptures.
*However, only faith in Christ Jesus can withstand the test of time and triumph. This means, our faith must be established in Christ Jesus in order to win the crown of everlasting joy. Therefore, we must daily surrender ourselves unto God through Jesus Christ in whom our faith can be brought into perfection.
