Topic: Love in Action

Bible TEXT: "Let love be genuine" Rom.12:9

The theme shouldn't be regarded as repititory ,because last week we looked into the' pre-eminence of love in church which we identified love as the most important gift. We were able to address the issue of competition and arrogance in the exercise of the gifts to the church as evident in the Corinthian.
Apostle Paul had to stress that love tops the list of all the spiritual gifts, and of course it is the key to the right use of spiritual and ministerial gifts to the church (1corinth14:1).
Love, in this context, is biblical agape ; the very nature of God. And so it must not be confused with other known concept of love in the sociological form. The agape love is synonymous with God. "God is love" {1john 4:16b}. Hence , it is the first on the list of the fruit of the spirit. Gal 5:22

The practical nature of Gods love or love as God, according to the Bible is seen in the action of God towards the fallen world human have proved wayward, yet the loving disposition of God is seen in His highest gifts to the world, of His only begotten son Jesus Christ john 3:16, ROM 5:6-8
The incarnation of Jesus Christ, his public ministry of preaching, teaching, healing, ascension and the expected glorious return in the end are all practical demonstrations of God's love to humanity. 1john4:9-10.
The challenge to the believers in the Christian church today is, therefore, to make their love to one another and the world outside the church practical.

John in view of the mystery of divine love towards humanity further challenges the church ,1john4:11.
Love your neighbour. The place we dwell determine how we may behave.
Love your neighbour as your friend. ROM 9:12. The way people living in america behave is different from ways people in Nigeria will behave. Our immediate environment influence our attitude and belief. So now as a Christian ,the way you will behave should be different from the way world and ungodly people behaves .

How to Show Love to Your Neighbours & Maintain Positive Attitude

1. Provide for the need of others especially the people of God
2. Be hospitable to others prov 11:25 as a Christian, you should water peoples life
3. Do not curse people, do good to others even your enemies
4. Rejoice with other people or, celebrate the prosperity of others
5. Do not think evil of others maybe because is richer. Prov 3:29
6. Do not be egocentric, puff up or arrogant with what we have
7. Do not be wise in your own sight. But be humble
8. Be peaceful with all men
9. Do not vindicate your self, allow God to intervene and take revenge
10. Overcome evil with godly act. Do not repay evil with evil.

Conclusion

In conclusion, ROM 5:5, As a Christian, trust God and be hopeful even when your hope seems not real and forth coming. Let the love of God be in us and spread abroad in us. Let's be faithful in dealing with others, more so, in our place of work/duty. Don't be slothful and expect your wages to be multiplied and increase .
How practical is love of God in the church today among the members within the fold and to others outside the church?. Don't just talk love but walk the talk.
Being born in church, my father is Reverend and I come to church everytime without having the knowledge of Christ with genuine salvation can't make you show true love. Be baptized in holy ghost and live a godly life then you can be sure of eternal glory and love.
May we all end well in this Christian journey. Amen
