WORD OF POWER ON SUNDAY FOR THE 48TH WEEK

 THEME: - LIVING RIGHT NOW TO AVERT GLOOM AT LAST

TEXT: - ‘And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the  judgement’ - Heb. 9:27

*The appeal found in 1 Peter 1:15-16 was very necessary in the first century, but also it needs to be emphasized today. As believers we need to live holy because our God is and He commands that we too live holy - Lev. 11;44-45. 

*Living holy life is not optional demand, it is God’s command that we live holy, for it is written, ’Be ye holy because I am holy’ - 1 Pet. 1:15-16. This means we must strive to live holy in order for us to avert the gloom at the end of the age - John 3:16-18.

*The Lord Jesus died and rose again so that we may be made right with God. To receive pardon and purity of life making us accepted in Him and to gain eternity with Him in the heavenly kingdom of His Father. 

*To avert gloom at last is referring to live our present life in such a way that we will live in the light of God in the present world in order to escape the gloom of darkness that will be the lot of them who choose to disobey the Lord - Zeph. 1:15.
*Jesus is coming back into the world to harvest the ripened fruits of His Father’s field: the righteous into God’s kingdom and the unrighteous into the gloomy darkness of the kingdom of Satan - Matt. 13:24-30.

*The steps to follow to prevent this terrible day is as follow; 1. Sin has to be blotted out of our lives; 2. We must apply our hearts to wisdom daily - Psa. 90:12; 3.We must live with eternity in view; 4. We must always prepare our minds for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ; 5. We must have a self-controlled life; 6. We must be watchful and be prayerful - Luke 21:34-38.
*We must always remember that it is appointed for all men to die once; after death judgment to live in heaven or in hell? We must not put all our hope on things of this world alone but always put eternity in our perspective - John 14:1-3
