WORD OF POWER ON SUNDAY: THE CHRISTIAN'S NEW NATURE

THEME:- THE CHRISTIAN'S NEW NATURE

Text:- "If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7

*The name Christian means followers of Christ or anyone belonging to Him. What makes them part of this group is their new nature. Followers of Christ were first called Christian in Antioch because their behaviours, activities and speeches were like Christ.
*The phrase 'new nature' that those who receive Christ as their Lord and Saviour are given that make them to live like Christ in the world. It is having the mind of Christ that abhors Sin - Rom. 6:6
*This new nature is a spiritual nature imparted by the Holy Spirit and it is described as the new self' - Col. 3:10. How very wonderful this becomes when we accept Christ and are partakers of the divine nature, God's kind of life - 2 Pet. 1:4.

*Every Christian therefore possesses two natures - the old and new. All who have been born again posses the sinful nature they inherited from Adam and divine nature by the Holy Spirit - John 3:6.
*These natures are co-resident within every believer and it is very important to understand that when we were born again we do not lose the old nature until we see the lord and transformed into His likeness - 1 John 3: 1-3.
*Therefore, brethren having received Christ as our Saviour we must put on the new nature daily like we put on our clothes. What are these natures: love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness and faith etc. Gal 5: 22-23.
*Beloved we are the light of the world, as a righteous people will must represent our master Jesus and our Father well in the world. In order to do this effectively we must be connected to Christ through His word and our prayers - Joh. 15: 1ff.

*We must also on regular basis be connected to one another as believers in fellowship with one another in the word of God; through praying together as believers in fellowship with one another in the word of God; through praying together and in communication and sharing together of the blessings of God - Acts 2:44-47.
